Last Saturday two of our medics, along with one of our 4x4s, provided support to North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team for their Allendale Challenge. From early afternoon onwards, our medics were pretty busy!

They dealt with two competitors with serious medical conditions, one of them out on Black Hill, and a number of other competitors were treated and provided with worsening advice for cuts, grazes and swelling back at the event centre.

The incidents involved 2 Team members for 9 hours.

In the early hours of Friday morning our Duty Controller, acting on behalf of North of Tyne MRT and ourselves, provided support to Northumbria Police#SARLOC was used to locate a medium risk missing person. Unfortunately the misper did not respond to the SARLOC text. No further #MountainRescueaction was required.

The incident involved 1 Team member for 1 hour 20 minutes.

Incident No: 14 2017

Yesterday one of our Land Rovers and four Team members assisted North of Tyne MRT with the rescue cover for the Allendale Challenge.

Over 500 competitors enjoyed the glorious conditions throughout the day. Unfortunately one competitor collapsed within four miles of the finish and required medical attention.

Our Team members were requested to assist members of North of Tyne MRT who were already on scene.

The casualty was airlifted to hospital by the Great North Air Ambulance Service. We hope the casualty makes a full and swift recovery.
