Incident No: 03 2018

Date: 15-16 January 2018
Time: 17.40hrs
Location: Scafell Pike, Lake District

Three Search And Rescue Dog Association England handlers and their dogs, and three Team members as navigators from our Team and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team, were placed on standby yesterday to assist the Lake District Search And Mountain Rescue Association with an ongoing, large scale search for a missing walker in the Scafell Pike area of the Lake District. The search was being conducted in full winter conditions.

The handlers, dogs and navigators travelled from #Northumberland in the early hours of this morning to Keswick Mountain Rescue Team‘s base for a briefing. They were then deployed to search a large area around Broad Crag and Ill Crag. Uplift to the area was provided by a Coastguard helicopter.

Thankfully the walker was located in Upper Eskdale, injured but alive, after spending nearly 48 hours out on the hill in winter conditions.

The incident involved 6 Team members for 7 hours.
