In support of Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team
New Vehicle For Mountain Rescue
The Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team took delivery of a brand new vehicle in March which will be known as ‘Curlew Delta’. The new vehicle will replace ‘Curlew X-Ray’, which will be retired from active service as a rescue vehicle and will become a fund raising/support vehicle for the team, so you may well see it on future Kielder 4×4 Safari events.
The new vehicle is a Land Rover Defender 110, which was supplied and fitted out by Lakeland Land Rover. The fully equipped rescue ambulance is now ready and awaiting its first call to action along with ‘Curlew Charlie’. The funds raised by the Kielder 4×4 Safari have helped towards the huge cost of buying and equipping a new vehicle, and the Mountain Rescue Team would like to thank all those who support our event and those who support the Team directly as without your support they would not be able to operate.

Kielder Ospreys Return
We have been informed that there has been sightings of Osprey in and around the forest. This is great news that the birds look like they will be nesting again this year in the forest as it’s only since 2009 that a pair of ospreys had recolonised naturally in Northumberland after over 200 years of absence.
Whilst the Osprey are nesting and bringing up their young we like to give them a bit of peace and quiet, so the quarry at Wainhope and some of the tracks to the West of the forest will be out of bounds but don’t worry as Kielder is the largest man-made woodland in England there are plenty of other tracks available to us.

If you would like to book for one of our events then why not head over to our bookings page and sign up. The next Safari is on the 7th April 2013, as we go to press there is only one place left, however, there are still plenty of places left on our other dates.
A family oriented event where you will spend time with our guides driving through Kielder and Wark Forests. In the comfort of your own vehicle, you will get to drive a variety of tracks and trails through the heart of the forest, not normally accessible to the public.
The event is suitable for all makes of 4×4 and is intended to be as none damaging as possible, so suitable for new and older cars alike.
Bring the family, pack your picnic and come and join us.
For those with dogs, they are welcome too!
